What To Do About Ice W/ Channel Catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok well that's good Because the pond is 18" on it's shallowest and 24" in it's deepest. Their our two ponds. The upper one is a small pond to collect water. This is a 40 foot river/stream that connects to the bigger pond to create flow. Never tried to run it during winter. And not sure what gonna do bout them dang coons.

Mine just eats and eats and eats. I actually bought him for my brother. He lives in a 15' x 8' x 30" deep garden pond. You will need a de-icer. Other than that, very hardy. Ours grew from a small 3" long fish to over 30" long in less than 3 years.

Yeah so does mine. I have him in a 75 and grew him out from 3" to 8" since i got him in February. My pond is shaped like a boomerang so I couldn't really give you dimensions. I was talking about feeding him during winter though. I know their feeding slows down when it gets colder out so I wanted to know how much to feed him.

Yes that has been mentioned multiple times on this thread. The pond will not entirely freeze up because there's running water. I was asking how much do I want to feed my channel cat when the pond is mostly frozen over or when it's cold out.

You will not want to feed at all if the pond is anywhere near freezing, your bio filters will not be active.
