I currently have a 55g aquarium that his housing a newly aquired Dovii 2" (Could not pass up the deal because he was only $15 USD), a 6" Butti,
2 1/2" Flowerhorn (RD/Texas mix), 2" Green terror.

There is a divider between the larger butti right now and the flowerhorn owns the other side of the tank. I cannot stand watching the flowerhorn beat up the smaller dovii and gt and I cannot remove the divider otherwise the butti is going to rape all three of them.

I also cannot afford to get a new tank right at this moment, but I need to make a decision. Do I sell or return the green terror and Dovii? Do I remove the divider and sell the Butti?

I do not have photos at this time, but I will post up as soon as I can. Im running a powerfiler 350 and another canister filter I purchased here in Japan.

What would you guys do? Please do not flame me because I am still new into the hobby.

Also keep in mind that I will only be living in Japan for another year and a half so I will half to sell the fish prior to leaving anyway, they will never reach their full length.

that tank is way to small for a full grown dovii what are the dimensions of the tank? when are you planning on buying a new tank and how big is the new tank your buying going to be??

If it were my tank i would remove the butti then take out the divider and see how things progress from there, Make sure you have plenty of hiding places and hopefully all will be ok.

I recommend you sell the butti and the dovii back to your lfs. Both of those get extremely too big for your tank. Keep the Gt and (maybe) the RD/Tx and either keep them divided or not depending if they get along or not. Eventually, the tank will probably only house one or the other. Most likely the GT is the best fit for your tank out of the 4 cichlids.

hey dude,

eh well I purchased the dovii on impulse because it was so cheap. Like i said, i will only be living in Japan for another year and will not be taking the fish with me so none of them will reach their full potential cus eventually I will have to bring them to the LFS or sell them.

I just want to have a decent set up for the next year and a half and watch some of them grow. But I know that if I keep the Butti and remove the divider he will slaughter them all. He rams the divider all the time full speed scaring all three of the other fish into corners. But I love the Butti, he/she is awesome! Appears to be in very healthy condition with the black lines showing up well at times and blue tint. The green terror has one of his eyes nearly removed from the flowerhorn and is a little bit too skiddish and just stays behind the filter all day only moving when having to scurry for food. The dovii was purchased last night and just hovers at the top because the flowerhorn dominates the bottom.

Like i said to the other poster, they are not going to reach full length anyway because I will eventually have to sell or return them. Ive done a bit of research and a Butti can do ok in a 55, it's not the best, but it is possible especially since he isnt going to be living in it for 4-5 years.

ok well then is there not much aggression between the rest of them??

Well between the flowerhorn, green terror, and Dovii the FH reigns supreme and the main reason I got the dovii last night besides the price is because the flowerhorn was picking on the GT too much and it was nearly dead with one of his fins almost completely removed and one of his eyes badly injured.

Now the flowerhorn picks on the Dovii so the GT is left a lone a little bit.

Sounds like things are getting nasty, You need to decide which fish you like the most. Realisticaly the butti and dovii have to go, Maybe with the extra space after the divider is removed the FH will not be so mean to the GT but don't hold your breath. In the end its probably going to come down to the FH and some dither fish or the GT and some dither fish. Not really the answer your looking for but if you do nothing the GT doesn't sound like its long for this world.
