If you are looking to get rid of the fish just call the F&W and...

May as well put the hand cuffs on yourself. Florida is PETA strong and I would swear that the Dept. of Fish and Game is staffed by them. You DO NOT fool around in Florida.

F&G have more authority than the DEA, local sherrif, etc. don't screw with htem - you can loose everything and hten some...

What I am saying is if you wish to transport them to a zoo and you told them the truth and YOU called them not them calling you I can't see them being able to do anything about it. I know here that the fish and game can enter a residence without permission or warrent. Search your freezers and what not they are WAY more powerful then the police.

COME ON he has posted here already I am sure they check these boards and he may get the knock on the door anyways, so why not just call them first. Tell them your trying to be responsible.

I understand your point, and I agree with you 100% that it is the right thing to do.

Where a problem arrises is that if you confess to a crime to a law enforcement officer, he has the duty to process you. The second problem is that possession of a live banned species is one crime and transporting that species is another. I worked in law enforcement when I was in the military. I kept a sense of humor, but I met numerous cops that did not. Trust me: you don't want to confess a crime to a police officer.

A zoo can get the transportation and possession permits, but they will not want the fish. If they want some talapia they can go to the ditch by their property and catch their own. They are an invasive species here and are everywhere; that is why they are banned.

I think the best solution is to "off them" and keep quiet about it.

Since freshwater tilapia are not a natural forage fish for snook, I doubt they would tak an interest in them. If you are worried about running into the authorities dumping your fish in a ditch, which is a lot less likely to draw attention than it is to transport the fish to a known snook hole, where you know the game wardens will be....................

It is illegal to have the fish in your possesion at any point in time or place or way. Get rid of the fish through any means u can except releasing them back to the wild. Have some morals. Don't further the destruction of the florida wildlife.
