Where do you live? This tank would require VERY oxygenated water and maybe a chiller. Natives. 2 or 3 sunfish/ bluegull, a school of yellow perch and a few bull head on the bottom, a hognosed sucker and chain pickeral.

But depending on where you get the discus, I would use RO.

Why not go brackish and throw some archers and gobies in there.I'm not sure which plants live in such water though.

Theres tons of live brackish plants online. Hard to find in an LFS though.
