What to put in my 20 long?!

I would do a pair of apistogramma or other dwarf SA Cichlid (Laetacara curviceps maybe), maybe 8 Cory cats of the same species, and a dozen small tetras. That would be a fully stocked 20 gallon long, would be biotope correct (depending on species of course and how specific you want your biotope to be), and they could live in the tank for life IMO.
 
I say go with cons I like kribensis but cons i personally think would be better yeah and they breed like crazy too.
 
Not sure I'd put a fully grown convict pair in a 20 gallon. Plus you'll have a ton of convict fry you won't even be able to give away.

If you want Central American cichlids, look at Cryptoheros nanoluteus, Herotilapia multispinosa, and if you want really aggressive little fish Neetroplus nematopus.
