Hey. I will be getting a 30g tank with the dimensions of 36''x 12''x 16''. I know forsure I will be putting in a 1 dubosi, 1 goldfish, 3 silver pictus, 1 green pictus, and 1 raphael catfish. These fish are only 2in in length so they're small. I woud also like to put in an electric blue crawfish and was thinking of 2 Opaline Gouramis. What would you put in?

You will be SOO overstocked. That's a pretty small tank.

Just the one goldfish is too much for this small tank. Common goldfish (single-tails) get over 12 inches, so a tank that is only 12 inches wide, is too small.

The pictus cats are schooling, and you would want to have a school of at least 6, but that's unattainable in such a small tank. Also, pictus cats should not be housed with any goldfish. Goldfish are much like other predator fish, and will try to eat anything, even if it doesn't fit in their mouths, and the barbs on the pictus cats would end up getting stuck in the fish, and both fish could die.

The crawfish will pick at the other fish in the tank. The gouramis are also rather annoying to other fish in the tank.

If I were you, I would get an angelfish, two opaline gouramis (I too, love the look of these fish) and maybe some cory cats (@ least 6.)

If you want to instead go the african route, then I wouldn't get the duboisi. They do best when kept in large groups, but I have come to really like the looks of the Electric Blue Johanni.

1 pictus will be too big after a while for that tank. They get up to 6" in most cases...
Goldfish are cold water, the rest you listed are tropical = warm water.
All those bottom dwellers would be too crowded, even if they stayed that size.
Expect the crawfish to eat some of your stock.

Please do more research or you will be in the marketplace trying to give big common catfish away.

I would do a small brackish tank, but I think you need to research some more basics before you do regular tropical at this point.

I have done research, plenty of it. Whenever I post anything on this site, its either, you're doing this wrong or you're overstocked or you just have to small of a tank. All of this, how many fish you can keep in a tank, etc, boils down to opinion. How is it that people are suppose to get fish like these without having to get a large tank? To some people 55g is a big tank. Maybe they dont have the room for it. And it takes a while for these fish to reach their max size. From now on, Im not going to even ask questions like this anymore.

I'm more interested in the fact you want all these catfish. Seems kinda boring. and African, Goldfish, Catfish combo is weird, I dont think you would be happy with the look in the long run (pictus get very boring after the ADHD phase). Personally I am on a native kick so I would do smaller dollar, bluespotted and banded sunfish with rainbow, orangethroat and redline darters.

It boils down to thinking about what you actually want. Look at it this way:
Goldfish is going to make a mess and get too big, they also don't look anything too special to random bystanders.

If you're interested in a crayfish, I wouldn't do many if any catfish... Just personal preference, but I don't want my catfish to have to deal with a cray.

If you want cichlids, rams are pretty cool and do well in small tanks, as well as other dwarf cichlid species.

Check out the different species of tetra, I have cardinals/rams and some oto catfish right now, and they're pretty cool.

Think about what setup you want to do though... planted vs not, type of decor, etc. Don't try a pictus tank with tons of lava rock formations (been there done that, sucks for swim space, amateur hour all over the place on my part.)

1 dubosi - 5"
1 goldfish - cold water NOT tropical
3 silver pictus - 4"
1 green pictus - 4"
1 raphael catfish - 8"
electric blue crawfish - eats fish
2 Opaline Gouramis - 5"

NOT counting the goldfish and crawfish that's 39" of fish at max size.

You asked for help and you are getting it. No reason to get salty about it if your choices are not "ideal".
Catfish grow fast, bottom line. You are choosing 5 fish to share a bottom space with a crawfish as well, which is a predator and has a natural food source of...fish. No one is saying "get a bigger tank" - you asked for opinions and you are getting them.

If you did your research, it's 1" of fish per gallon of water (not counting decorations and such) and minus the goldfish you are well over that at max size.
Now you are adding different temperature fish together - 75-80F fish with 60F goldfish. That in itself is an issue.

I have other suggestions for you, that would work well, you just need to be as receptive as your OP seemed to be.
