I went with these fish because I like them, they're fun to watch. I have the goldfish in there cuz my buddy gave it to me. I know goldfish dont need water temperatures like tropical fish do, but I've had him for months in 76-78 degree water and he's fine, eating, swimming, no signs of distress, gill movement is normal. Im not a fan of tetras, or the other community fish that were listed. Thats why I asked about the gouramis.

im gonna say thats NOT a small tank its decent size but theres no way you can have all that and have crayfish..cause i mean those would probably knock out all your fish..but a single goldfish would fit that tank..im not saying thrive im saying about the size of the tank..but um yea just no way overstocked and i dont see how that many cats can be together unless spaced..but maybe if you narrow it down you can have some of those fish...
I asked for opinions on gourami's and other tropical fish. I didnt ask to be flamed over and over again. I have kept care of all these fish in much smaller tanks without any problem. I have put an electric blue crawfish in with other fish that were 2-3in in length, not very big and everyone got along fine. The problem that I have is that how are people like me suppose to get the fish they like without having to get a large acquarium?
You can't. If the fish you want or the numbers of fish that you want exceed the size of your tank, you can't have them. You will either have to get a large enough tank to handle them or find fish that will live healthy lives in the tank that you do have. There's really no way around it. You can put any number of fish in a 30gal , it's what happens to them because of overcrowding or out growing the tank that will make the difference. I understand what you're saying Gruffmaster. Maybe im not making myself clear...I think what you can put in a 30g and the numbers of fish comes down to opinion. If a person has good filtration and ammonia levels are 0 along with nitrates, then isnt the fish in that tank alright? Then the issue with overcrowding is I guess im so use to seeing people buy 5 or 10g tanks and they put more fish then they should in there. I also ask people who have been dealing with fish for 10+ years and they hardly have any problems with what I do. I do try to be open minded and learn from others, but its very hard to do when people get on my case 90% of the time and they dont budge with their rules about keeping fish, etc.

Opinions do have a lot to do with it, but there are some things that are just common practice for keeping healthy fish. If you plan on keeping the same stock successfully for the span of their lifetime, you have to realize that they will grow and their needs and behavior will change accordingly. There are just some fish that will not work well together because of potential size and the size of their aquarium. I agree that some people do go overboard with tank requirements but in your case I honestly believe that your stock is highly likely to have problems in the future. If you can, save for a larger tank that will support the stock that you have and the fish that you may want in the future. You can also look into the many species of fish that are eye-pleasing and can live their entire lives in your current tank. I post questions regardless of how much research I do or what other fish enthusiasts tell me is because I like to hear other people's opinions on the question asked. But u do bring up a good point, I'll just ask questions very sparingly. And I do plan on getting a larger tank(s) in the future, probably a year or two from now.
