i would love an arowana for my 180 (72x24x24) but what kind? i have discus and rays that i plan to put in there the discus are adults already so about six inches in size as an average but what kind of arowana could i have?

Your in Canada, I would look into the different varieties of asian aro. South American aros, silvers or blacks, will eventually outgrow a 180g. The jardini from Australia are generally mean, bad news for discus. There are also leicharti which are also from Australia and kind of rare.

I find the Asians, for instance my Greens, to be occasionally as aggressive as a Jardini. I've had em kill knives, bowfin, African aros and other fish with an "undulating" swimming styles.

hmm asian aros ill check them out any specifics that dont get too big?

Unfortunatly they are illegal here in the states, so I don't have much experience with them. Seems they are in the 20-24" range, but I could be mistaken.

No, asian arowanas get to around 20"+. Asian, jar, and lei can be kept in 180 gallon perfectly, but a bigger tank is always better though.

i plan to upgrade to a larger tank in about 5 years or so but as long as 180 is large enough for them now. im currently looking for an asian one, anyone know any good places in Canada to get them?
