What type of Arowana for 180g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well it turns out locally i can get both but Silvers are much less expensive which for me (a student) is a good thing lol. So here's my question, Are blacks less aggressive? Is there really much of a growth rate difference between blacks and silvers? and If i go for a silver, how long will it comfortably be in a 180 for?

Sorry after reading more i have another question, Is Drop Eye really common in silvers? because if that is the case i think i will get a black one, not that i dont like the drop eye its just if blacks dont get it as much then why not get one of them right?

DE seems to be more prevelant in Silvers then in Blacks, I've actually never personally seen a Black with DE

You'd get away with a 180 for a few years. You could keep it in there indefinitely, although it would be rather cramped.

What about the blue arowana.....

Just another common name for a black arowana, Osteoglossum ferreirai.

I moved my RTG into a 180 when he hit 15". By the time he was 17", I felt bad because he had such little room to move in. He also banged lids a lot because he had nowhere to flee when he got spooked. If you care about your fish and want to provide a good home, look to upgrade to a bigger tank once he hits the 18" mark.

Yeah i know an asian aro would but i'd prefer to keep my tank with all fish from the same region

that leaves you with just 2 choices. black and silver.
