what type of fish should i get?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i found a 55 G tank for $50 but it hs no filter or anything just the tank. my mom said i have too wait until we move because she doesn't want too have too trance-fer a tank too :/ but what is schooling? how much does a filter and everything cost? and the fish what are the prices on them? as i know nothing =]

Id say a planted community tank is right up your alley. Good luck with the budget though my friend!

a pair of convicts are a cheap fish to go in a tank that size, considering the budget etc.

alright basically its like this:
1) Schooling fish are anything species that prefers/almost Needs to be with a group of the same fish. These are generally called community fish but other "semi-aggressive" do as well. just ask someone. Average price per fish i'd say around 2.50 but can range between $1-$15
2) A Planted tank is a tank that well.... is planted. this generally means buying special substrate (the ground stuff ie gravel, sand etc) and laying with small ground covering plants over the whole thing. Let those grow out a little bit and and add more bigger plants. Can be costly and time consuming but looks great and is very clean
3) A Filter for your size tank would average somewhere between $30-$90 depending on brand and type. there are many types of filters just ask about some but more populars are canister, wet/dry (aka waterfall) and powerheads.
.... just ask more this is just an extremely basic synopsis as i am NOT an expert by any means

if schooling fish are 'semi agresive' what type of fish are more aggressive and whats the minmume Gallon tank you need for more aggressiveminimumaggressive fish. I'm experimenting a little looked through all the fish photos seen so many that i like.

I'm going too buy the tank, then use my allowance/work around neighborhood too get the rest of the materials needed for the type of fish.

get a chaca chaca and a leaf fish

and

you will never ever want to keep fish again :P

:D

or

just keep a large shoal of cardinal tetra or neon tetra, they make impressive show tank ^^

get a pair of convicts....ur have soo many fry that u will be forced to get another tank....u start this way
now that u are at MKF ur gonna be spending more than 100$...take my word on that

how much do some of the larger fish go for? i don't ever want too be forced too move up too a bigger tank. id rather get a different type of fish and put in a different tank :) iv always enjoyed watching big fish eat there meal. !GULP!

go through the forum...there are a lot of interesting fish to look at and decide...
u want pred. fish....most of them require a larger tank than a 55g....
and watching fishes breed/spawn and fry grow is a lot better than watching a larger fish eat a smaller fish...that's what youtube is for ;)
