i doubt that to be honest. i don't think this species above would have somehow mistakenly ended up in a random lfs somehow.
it's really hard to tell as they are in juvenile colors, but i would guess gymnogeophagus rhabdotus
He got them as Geophagus 'Rio Salto" at a swap meet(privately bred), not a lfs.
As I did some more research, I found out that Gymno. australis 'Salto' and Gymno. cf. gymnogenys 'Salto' are one and the same. The correct name is Gymno. australis 'Salto'(identified by the twin barring). This is a pic from Kutty while collecting in Uruguay of Gymno. australis 'Salto'.
So my new choice, Gymno. australis 'Salto'. Of course this is dependant on a correct locale, Rio Salto Grande.
Geophagus brasiliensis tend to have a pointer snout then the fish in question.
