its not specifically these two that are mixed up or mislabeled, and it doesn't have to do with how closely they look or not, e.g. these two here really look nothing alike, aside from some similar markings.

it's quite a trend for a number of bichirs in retail. e.g. senegalus mislabeled as 'palmas', palmas polli mislabeled as 'retropinnis', lapradei mislabeled as 'congicus', just to name a few. When misID occurs, i think mostly thats because the retailers don't know bichirs well or at all, so they go with what the invoice says, which unfortunately is wrong.
