I've caught mud turtles, musk turtles, snapping turtles, redbelly turtles, bull frogs, leopard frogs, albino catfish (was a yellow bullhead I beleive) Stargazers, oystercrackers, puffers, searobins, inshore lizardfish, assorted garbage.
I once had a 8' lemon shark eat a striper I was catching at the jetty in OC MD. Right at the jetty, pretty ecxiting. Had him on for a bit, but he bit through the 20lb flourocarbon tippet I was using pretty quick. I've snagged mola mola trolling offshore, and I once caught a 4.5' needlefish trolling offshore. And a message in a bottle. I once spent 1.5 hours fighting what I thought to be a world record striper on a fly rod, it was a cownose ray. I was fishing for small aquarium fish in OC, and hooked a 32 lb red drum. On 4 lb test. I landed it, but took a while.
When I first started fishing offshore, I was by myself in an 18' mckee craft. I had 7 lines out, 2 flat, 2 short riggers, one way back in center, one close in center, and one long rigger. All 7 went down at one time, I landed all 7. Never picked up a rod, left em in the rod holders, kept going forward, reeled em in little by little. All mahimahi, the smallest was 24, the largest was 50".
I've got loads of stories, I once cuaght a 50" striper fly fishing for bluegill. The stream was about 10' wide. on the same day, I had a 30" pike eat a blugill I had caught, landed him. Biggest pike to date.
