When I was a kid I went salmon fishing with my dad on lake michigan. We set the down riggers and dad started trolling. Pole popped up and i set the hook.... No fight at all!!!! Well when I got it to surface, it wasn't a fish at all.. I caught a ziplock baggie someone had crapped in and threw it overboard!!!:WTF:.. True story!!! I caught a sh*t fish:ROFL:!!!!

Thought you would enjoy this,
Chris

I have caught Northern Atlantic Sea Grapes before. And there was always the story of Sea Robinzilla, who was like over 24" that I caught on a Bunker chunk in the Rockaways. I also had a Porgy double header... using a 2 hook rig, got one of each hook :D

I have seen people up here in NY catch all kinds of stuff... Horse-Eye Jack, Banded Rudderfish, huge Conger Eel, Scaly-Tailed Mantis Shrimp.

And on 2 occasions, I have landed Fluke (Summer Flounder) that proceded to vomit partially digested Capelin onto the boat/dock. And the Sea Lice that pop out of Bluefish mouths after the Bluefish is landed are a nice surprise :D One of them actually latched onto my hand once.

I also remember one time I was night fishing in Jamaica Bay, and the fishing was slow the whole time. Then all of a sudden, a mass exodus of Blue Crabs swimming along the surface. They were small, maybe 4" from spike to spike on the biggest Crab, and just casually paddling along the surface. I actually surface casted to, and caught a few. It was great.

Then there was the 15 lb (!!!) Sail Catfish that I caught in a canal in Florida while Grouper fishing. It was big and gray with triangular fins, and because of that it looked like a small Dolphin when it first came up. It was longer than my arm.

Can't beat the oddities that come up in dipnets.

Pea sized Northern Puffer, baby Brill Flounder, baby Summer Flounder, a 2" Atlantic Halibut ( ) Northern Pipefish, Razorfish. In Cape Cod MA, while paddleboating with the folks and sis on Swan River, netting turned up a 1" Black Seabass and a 3" American Eel.

New one today!!
I was fishing at Clove Lake in Staten Island. There were a LOT of people paddleboating. I had been cut off like 3 times and had to reel in like 10 times. I decided to leave the line in the water as a paddleboat containing 2 Hacedic Jewish kids drove past. Needless to say, my line got hopelessly tangled in the paddle. :irked:

I was so pissed off that I reeled the boat back to the shore. No joke. The kid's face was priceless when he realized that he was being reeled in

once caught a 8 foot wide stingray in puerto jimenez unhooking was FUN. the same trip we saw an arizona greent tea jug in the water we went to get it and it was tied to a line tht had a 20 pound red snapper on it it was an interesting day

That was probably a distraction for dolphins so they would leave their boat and other snapper alone.
