What was the worst mistake you made?

Bought a matoro stingray about 15 years ago. I was told to keep it in a 45 gallon breeder and used gravel substrate. It died after about a month or so. Tried it again with same set up and same result. I now know better.
 
Thinking a 180g would be big enough to hold me over for a while instead of getting the 240g I wish id bought instead.

Not washing my prewashed sand and plant substrates before adding them to the tanks.

Buying a used 40g tank only because I thought it would be a cheap way to get int the hobby.
 
Buying a used 55 gallon with a broken-missing eurobrace... yeah boom! Corals, tangs, clownfish, mandarin goby's, live rock, glass, everything was everywhere. Top floor apartment, leaked down into the neighbors, was my only salt tank at the time, below zero temps outside...not friends with salt tanks, stores closed, I lost everything

Not mine but my sisters

Putting 3 male bettas and a county fair gold fish in a 2 gallon bowl. W/o any sort of filtration or plant... still like this even though I tried to give her an old 8 gallon acrylic tank w/ everything for it to be set up. The bettas have no fins from fighting and the goldfish is in tatters. Its a pretty nice one for a fair fish, nice body shape no deformities, its a calico

one of my worst mistakes and it happened today. lol i put a stood driftwood tht comes out of my tank and my crayfish got away. nver found him anywhere. probably my dog ate him. :( i was planning to breed him.
