What was your first fish?

I guess my first fish was a bass I caught in the pond outside of our apartment complex. My dad had a tank with Convicts and some type of algae eater. I don't know what it was (this was twenty or so years ago) but it was long and slender and about the same length as the bass (I'm guessing four or five inches). My dad let me put it in the tank. The bass ate the algae eater. The tail stuck out of its mouth for a whole day. My dad was pretty mad but he laughed about it anyway. The bass eventually went back to the pond. A lot of mistakes, but hey, I was six, and my dad was indulgent.

climbing perch caught from a local flooded rice paddy.. 14 yrs ago.

I saved up my babysitting money and bought a 2-3 gallon tank with a little filter from a garage sale and had 2 small creek chub in it. I hid the tank under my bed as I wasn't allowed to have fish. I was about 11 years old. One day my Mom asked me how my fish were... I was dumbfounded. How did she know I had fish? (Apparently the noise and cords sticking out from under the bed weren't as obvious to me!)

I still laugh when I think about where I started this hobby so many years ago.....

Jack Dempsey, Neetroplus Nematopus, and an Exadon Paradoxus in a 20H, Duh!!!
I needed more tanks very soon, no idea what I was doing. And looking back, the LFS must not have cared less.

mine were ghost shrimp

my first fish was a common pleco and an albino afcrian clawed frog

These two crack me up. Apparently shrimp and frogs have been reclassified as fish and I missed it.

Now someone will yell at me for being nit picky. I just thought it was funny.
