I saved up my babysitting money and bought a 2-3 gallon tank with a little filter from a garage sale and had 2 small creek chub in it. I hid the tank under my bed as I wasn't allowed to have fish. I was about 11 years old. One day my Mom asked me how my fish were... I was dumbfounded. How did she know I had fish? (Apparently the noise and cords sticking out from under the bed weren't as obvious to me!)

I still laugh when I think about where I started this hobby so many years
ago.....

Mine was a betta that lived for 4 years then a 10g tank with black skirt tetras and albino frog. then 2 koi (my mom took over the tank). Quit for about 3-5 years. then a 5g wil my baby oscar (now in friends 200g). Now spent around 400$ of my own money for my pride and joy 55g tank

A 3" Jardini Aro. ....which died sucked in head first into my pump. I didnt know those things had covers. It was an old powerhead from a friend. I had it for 2 hours.

i started off with live bearers. i had a guppies and swordtails.

My first tank was a 10 gallon, stainless steel framed model, with a cheap airpump, an inside filter and my mother added a stainless steel top, with incandescent bulbs. This was back in the early 70's. technology has come a very long way.

Male betta, but I was about 2 and my parents cared for him. The first I cared for were goldfish when I was in kindergarten or so

My first fish were red parrots at 4in. and grew them to nearly 9 in. but way to agreesive when i started a community tank...
