What was your first fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my very first fish was a comet feeder fish. i was a little kid and i felt bad for the fish and it was only like 29 cents. my parents were responsible enough to invest in a tank suitable for the fish and thats how it all started

I had small frogs and stuff, sea monkeys... BUt my first tank of my own i remeber I got x-mas 10 gallon, stand, filter, the works.. and my dad took me fish shopping.. he had a 55 for years... and let me get 2 angel fish, a common pleco, a peacock eel, and I don't even remember what else, neons prolly, and some live bearers... and they all went into the tank... Odly enough I had those Angels for many years... and eventually put them in my dads 55 when his africans finally passed away... that pair of angels eventually bred for me and I got my first lesson on raising fish... I was hooked by then. Still amazes me to this day those Angels survived... dropped the hood in countless times.. water changes? what where those?... my dad was meticulous with his own tank.. but I learned my fishkeeping habits from trial and error... the eel jumped outta the tank within' 1 week of gettign it... Oh and I had a raspberry botia! who would jump into the hob filter and spend the day! lol... learned sooo much since then!

How bout this. My mom had 3 clown fishes and a pack of feeder guppies in our miniature pond. None survived. We didn't know there was a difference between freshwater and saltwater fishes.

my fisrt fish ive ever had was goldfish.

Thank you! Me too! I thought it was strange most peoples first fish was not related at all to goldfishes. They're almost everyone's first fish.. =/
Unless fishkeeping runs in the family.. then you're most likely to have a more sophisticated type of fish :D

Two tiger barbs, Ernie and Bert, lets just say things didn't end too well for Bert. We ended up getting more Sesame Street named tiger barbs and Elmo had to be traded in at the store but i forget for what. I like to think of it as if Sesame Street was directed by Quentin Tarantino.

I got 4 of those black tipped catfishes and a 29 cause they were labeled as sharks, and I thought it would be cool. Week by week, each one died.
