arrowana,cichla,dats,polys,fh,rays,plecos, etc.
these are what most of us have now.

but where do our roots lie? :)
do we still keep those kinds of fishes now? if not, why the shift? was there some sort of transition/progression?

..just wanna compare notes. ;) thanks!

i started in 97 with a comm tank of predatory fishes (some oscars, arros, a senegalus, some knives, pacus, a pleco etc.) that ended up killing each other. dumb. The senegal was the ultimate survivor for some reason. i took a break and started again in 2001. Now i keep a lot of bichirs.

and a lung in a separate tank.

my parents always had fish tnak when i was growing up but then they quit. I do remembering have 2 bluegill in a larger tank downstairs.

I got back into the hobby about 2-3 years ago with a small gold fish pond.

A red oscar when I was 7. That was in 1980. Had him for 6 years, didn't know anything about fish but did a pretty good job considering. Then one day my uncle thought it would be cool to feed him a hotdog. I came home from school to find him chocking to death on a friggin hotdog. That sucked.

5 years ago I bought an oscar and a 10 gallon tank. I still have him and he is beautiful.

I first started with discus; a good 12 years ago.

My father always kept fish. He's had oscars, piranhas, severums, aros and other misc fish.
My first fish was my Largemouth Bass and I still have him at 18".
