I was about 8 and got a 2 (I think?) gallon Acrylic square tank. It's been so long I can only remember it had some sort of crappy UGF and the light was a standard bulb which got the lid hot as hell after 10 minutes. Now that I think about it the water probably got hot as hell too. I don't have a clue what I had in it.
18+ years and almost that many tanks later I still love the hobby as much as when I started. I've learned a little since then too.
