What was your first tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wow everyone thanks for sharing! makes me fell better about my tanks lol jjohnwm jjohnwm I think it is kinda easier for begginers to start with larger tanks 30g+
it is easier to maintain good parameters and its kinda funny that 75g is my first "tank" but I actually started with a indoor kiddypool with my pleco a pictus cat goldfish and in winter my old koi used to come in it to oh and it had no lids and I had cats lol bad combo
I think the web also makes it much easier to get started now, if only there was MFK back when I started...

I don’t have any pictures of it, but my first tank was a 60 gallon community tank. It stayed that way for a few years until my first monsters. 3 pacu and leporinus from petsmart. Then they were the only fish left. After getting rid of them, it became a goldfish tank. And then ich happened a few years after that.
Now it is a tropical community again.
The only thing consistent is that I don’t remember a time when it wasn’t overstocked.

My first tank was a 10 gallon Goldfish tank. I had 7 5 1/2 -6 Inch Goldfish stuffed filled with cloudy water, and feces. My LFS also had no care for the poor little fish and really gave me no information of how to take care of them except every week do a water change, and feed them twice a day. I ended up killing all my fish when I did that water change 2 weeks later because I took all the water out, and refilled it with new water. I lost all my cycling progress, and because of spikes in ammonia, and nitrate killed the fish as well. R.I.P.

My first tank was a 10 gallon tank full of little community fish this was like 10 years ago it was technically mine but my parents maintained it I didnt even know water changes were a thing what I had in there were some neon tetras, 1 red guppy who was named later once everyone died lone ranger, 2 albino cories, I had a whole school of black mollies I got one who was pregnant from the store, and then 2 silver dollars, there was a filter in their but they all died besides lone ranger it didn't have hater also lone ranger only survived a year:cry:. Then once everyone died and I was a little older I got 20 gallon with 3 fancy goldfish, which they were a black moor, an oranda, and a fan tailed. I finally learned about the water cycle when I got them and they survived for a good 8 years last month was the anniversary of their death they died last year and once they were big enough they went into a 30 gallon. Also jjohnwm jjohnwm my dad is the same way he thought it was a phase but I proved him wrong.
