...and what was the outcome? Were you successful in housing whatever aggressive species of cichlids you had, or were there severe consequences?

You don't need to limit your response to just your own personal experiences; you can also talk about really aggressive cichlids for some reason kept together at, say, a LFS or a friend's house, etc...

13" Jag and 10" flowerhorn. No agression problems at all. They were perfectly ok with each other

in short, everyone kicked the oscar's ass

red terror (festae) pair, male ~7-8" and female ~5.5-6", with a 6" red devil. these were probably the most aggressive fish I've kept together and I didn't keep them together on purpose. there was a divider between the red devil and festae pair but the divider got knocked down and the festae pair killed the red devil in less than 2 hours while I was taking a nap. :(

I have a dovii and jag together right now. They are both nearing the 6 inch mark and I'm starting to think i will have to remove the jag sooner than expected. I did not take into consideration that my wild male dovii would be considerably more aggressive at smaller size. But on the up side he is getting beautiful coloration I can not wait to show him off as an adult :D

yeah I'd keep a very close eye on them. they're both very close to reaching maturity if not going through it now. soon I'd expect them to start fighting a lot. guapotes don't normally get along very well together. :)

pair of tiny 2" male rams. So small yet so relentless :swear:

The jag is very passive ( for obvious reasons) so the Dovii does not bother him too much yet. I am starting to look for a new home for him because he just sits in the corner all day out of fear :( . I think it is time for the dovii to have their own tank the other cichlids are not being ignored any longer.
