Yes, but that section must be viable! As I understand it, a leaf by itself can no more grow roots than can the hand of an axolotl regenerate an entire animal.

Won't stop me from trying buddy!

This is essentially the whole plant, barring one leaf and a few roots at either end. See the blackened area in the center? That's where a new leaf would grow.

It actually seems a little thicker now. No new leaves. Plenty of new roots, though.

It is still just getting thicker. No new leaves, just a few tiny new roots. It. Is. Immortal.

nutrient defficency or disease is my guess. Plants need more then just nitrates/ammonia/nitrites/ fish poop.. or else planted tanks as a whole would be for beginners.

that surprises me that it's not growing. my pothos has been shooting up practically daily since i put it in my axolotl tank. and i like the comment about an axolotl hand not growing back an entire animal :)

Yep. All the other pothos grow a new leaf every week. And the spider plants are dark and tall. I'm sort of surprised nobody else has ever encountered a crippled pothos before. It has actually gotten just a bit thicker, but as of now its roots have slowed down on growing and, obviously, no new leaves can grow. I'm just curious what all that metabolic energy will go toward. Maybe the thing will just get ridiculously thick.
