I'd need modest_man to confirm, but I think whichever gene causing either color morph would turn out to be dominant, and the whole spawn would look like either mom or dad.

Where's Modest_Man when you need him? lol

Keep the fry & find out there is bound to be some nice lookers in there somewher but more then likely in a communitt tank they'll get eaten long before they get big.

I always feel better about my breeding projects if I can be sure the fish are from the same region. Especially so in this case, where the different regions have such different color morphs. You have lots of fish, so one approach would be to be patient and get two jags from the same region that you really want to breed together.

On the other hand, I am sometimes curious about what I will get when I breed to color morphs together - you will find out which genes are dominant. I don't think the fish will be ugly at all - it just depends on what you're looking for in a jag.

So it depends on your goals - do you want to have jags that are true to one region or do you want to do a genetics/color morph experiment?

I like that female!

good luck - I always enjoy seeing your fish!,

Thanks windsurfer. I wasn't sure if they would ever breed. I got some static from people saying that WC Jags never breed with tank bred Jags so I put them together just to see what would happen. It was more of an experiment I guess. I've decided to just keep the Festae andTrimac fry I have now and if they breed in the community setting and some survive then cool. Otherwise I guess it wasn't mean to be. They were doing a lot of shaking and shimmying again the last few days but yesterday I separated the male into my hospital tank due to a head injury. There's another thread posted about that too.

i think they will look freakin AWESOME!!!

that is the most beautiful female jag ever!!!
