I was turing off all my tank lights and I accidentally knocked a potted bamboo plant into the tank (plant is from a grocery store). When I picked up the plant it came out of the pot and all this white stuff came out looks like gravel, some floats and some sinks. I was told it is vermiculite :s.
I got out as much as I can, but my question is are my fish doomed?

my guess is it going ro severly alter ur ph. are u doing water changes and such

maybe algae, probably no effect on the fish.

people have tried potting soil for planted tanks before, its not used because it has floating pieces.

do you have any bog wood in the tank? is all of that the fertilizer

There was no soil in the tank...just this white stuff.
I know potting soil and this white stuff is NOT what is in soil. This is hard and crumbles when you press on it...some floats and some sinks.
