What will this oscar look like as an adult?

feed him Bio Gold Plus by Hikari this is the best stuff on the market check it out.. it has double the stuff in it then all the other ones..

I'll have to track that down. I've used hikar gold in the past, but not bio gold or bio gold plus.

Right now I'm feeding cichlid staple and frozen blood worms, mysis, spirulina, veggies, etc...

Also try Omega One Color pellets and New Life Spectrum Cichlasoma Formula, I've seen fantastic results with both.

Where do you get those from J? Big chain stores? I don't think I've seen them at the LFS I go to (then again I always ask for the same brand (hikari etc..)).

I think you can get Omega at either PetSmart or Petco. Spectrum would have to be from a LFS.

Guaranteed to lose 75% of the cool pattern. Most Oscars when growing their pattern tends to blend into each other.

Yeah that's what I'm expecting.. my guess is that he'll end up looking like a red oscar, but I'm not sure about the white belly and fins. They'll probably end up red too.

some oscars will retain that patterning but 3-4 changes a week and feeding foods high in carotenoid and protein untill adult hood is what i suggest. It's very time consuming and requires lots of effort but the outcome is very worth it.
