i am building a pond right now $200+$100 for extras because a tank is out of my price range $300+$300 for extras and i need the room a tank would not be that much more but filters and lights and a stand will ad up. i am also in an apartment and will have to move it so dissasembly is very easy

really if i had my own home and saved up i would build a pond with a window with fiberglass and acrylic it is easy and farely cheap but also very hard to move

If I had the space right now -- huge tank! My dream house would virtually have no solid walls on the inside (except the guest bathroom of course, lol). I want "tank walls" from room to room, like a complete aquarium in my own home, with a great room to house a tank of at least 300,000 gallons for some sharks -- that would be my dining room. I have even made blue prints of my "dream home" with a local contractor. Pretty cool, especially when I learned most of it was totally do-able. But for right now, I am currently building a pond for my parents -- I have pix, but I am retarded, and last time I tried to add them, it didn't work, so I don't know how to do it, or I would show them. Maybe someone will help me out here?? Anyways, If you have the money, I always prefer tanks, but ponds are cool too. Very relaxing to listen to if you have water-falls on them (as the one I am building does). Plus a nice addition to any backyard! Whatever you decide, save up enough money to go all out and make it fab!!!! No sence in creating something with your own two hands and vision if you can't make it amazing right?!?!

A pond with viewing windows. This window as a wall of the dining room!. You get the natural light of sun, fish get better color!!!

i agree about the viewing windows in the pond but why not just start out with a smaller pond till you can afford a big one heres pics of my 180 gallon baby aro pond pics were taken before filter media was put in my home made filter this pond also has an undergravel filter that is on the reverse flow principle so all clean water through the filter is pushed up through the gravel :headbang2

personally I'd build a pond simply because I think it would be easier and longer-lasting.

tank nothing beats a monster tank

Most fish can't live outdoors in MN. I freeze my acorns off every day for 5 months every year. Having said that, I love it here.

Both. I am running a hose into my basement right now to flood it. When it's full I will add fish. Do you think the landlord will mind?
