I actually saw achara cats at an lfs and instantly fell inlove with them. and I do love poly's. but I suppose the verdict has spoken on the arowanas.
any species that remain smaller, like an asian or jardini? or do they all get to the same size?

the glass is half an inch thick I wouldn't be suprised if it stopped bullets

I like pike cichlids, If I could find a real nice Xingu gold I would definately have one. Cichlids make good tankmates for most large fish providing you pick the big robust more peaceful kinds like, Severum, chocolate, pearsii etc. A pike cichlid might not be a good idea cause they hate other elongated fish like bichirs, eels or snakeheads.

Leopard ctenatoma are a nice fish but from what I've seen they don't grow too big and it would end up a snack for a hungry bichir at some point im sure.

So I've been thinking through all the wealth of options and going to different areas of the forums to get ideas for stock and I think I have found a basis for the stocking.

Bottom
A few Bichirs
most likely species I can get hold of Senegalus,Delhezi, ornate. Would love an Endli but unless they show up nearby I'll have to just grab it and grow it out whenever i manage to find one.

A Hardy larger catfish sp. achara would be nice (I like how they look) I like the TSN and TSN hybrids out there but I think they get too big so I will avoid things like that

Middle
A few larger peaceful cichlid sp. Chocolate, severum, oscar, frontosa. something robust to fill out and add colour.(thinking super red something) Pbass are a possibility but I know nothing about them and their requirements so unless someone brings them up I will leave those out for now.

Clown knife (always loved these guys)
Flagtail, I already have one and they are a joy to watch and keep the algae off of anything.

so thats the basis, what else could I add or change? I definately want to keep bichirs, so however many is upto you guys. the cichlids could be reduced to just one I guess, or replaced with something else so just want some good ideas. I'm leaving out arowanas because it seems to cause so much of a stir with everyone.
