WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Again, off you go insulting. As far as me being a newbie goes, yes I am. I have never kept monster fish. ;)

Yes, I have read every single thread on varanus.net. About blackhead and ackie needs and behaviors, they are very close. As far as cage size, THE TOPIC HERE, no. An example of hypocracy. You think I am trying to argue and counter every point, then off you go insulting the very literatature you used to back yourself up.

Save face? I'd rather save the animals face than mine. Its the internet dude, settle down.

About Franks keeping of large constrictors, thats where he learned most of his monitor techniques from. The temp gradient from 50 to 130+ degrees is the same he uses for monitors and snakes. Like Frank would say, its not a matter of whether you read the thread, its how you apply it. In this case, I am not applying this, because I do not keep nor plan to keep blackheads.

I sent him an emailing quoting this thread to see what he thinks.

But hey man, don't act like you were never a newbie and haven't made your own mistakes. Like you said, we all have our ups and downs. In this case, it looks from my point of view you like other people to stay down. If you want to back yourself up instead of ripping me down, lets see you keep to that.

I cited th literature for snake sizes point blank and then I cited vision cages being unsuitable for them. Where is the hyocracy in that? Where did I state in all these 5 pages that I am in accordance with the use of vision cages as a suitable measure to keep blackheads in ? please copy and paste it for me I dont remember typing it? I think im my last post I shared how there are many ups and downs mostly downs...... where on earth do you see me trying to keep people down on this forum? My name is everywhere. Check! My issue with you is that I tried to help find the right direction and you took it the wrong way. This all goes back to the initial question of why do you think a 125 is suitable for a black head? You still have failed to answer that question. Im pretty much done with the pissing match my friend, the thread on venemous lizards sounds more appetizing to me right now.... when youre ready to be civil see you there.

I took sparky as an insult by the way .... i associate that with a dogs name.

I've never heard of a dog named Sparky outside of a cartoon. Nothing wrong with dogs anyway, they got humans where they are today. That was not meant as an insult, and I hope you don't still see it that way.

I didn't say he couldnt modify his tank. I might have used a 125 for a juvie blackhead for a few months then upgraded to something much larger. Something in the 10 x 4 -ish range, and plenty deep for substrate. I'm not arguing your point about the blackheads, not a bit. I don't doubt you know more of them than I do. But a juvenile blackhead, say 3 feet, would not have a problem in a spiffed-up 125. It doesnt take much to make most snakes thrive, but a small tank is the least of our worries considering the crap some snakes have to endure. Have I answered your guestion? I DO NOT THINK A 125 IS SUITABLE FOR AN ADULT BLACKHEAD AND IT WAS NEVER STATED THAT I DO. If it was, show me and I'll acknowledge myself as mispoken.

It looks like youre trying to keep me down, not necessarily other people. I've seen you all over the site even without going to check. I was already familiar with you before this needless discussion. To me it seems you had good intentions, but now you just want to feel dominant not being a 'newbie' which I do not feel either of us are in the way of herps (although I am nowhere near an expert). Neither of us know each others keeping experience, so that may change on either end. Lol, I'm sure I'd bow down to total superiority in the feild of monster fish! Biggest fish I've kept is a pleco!

Already saw you in the Venomous Lizard thread. ;) I'm glad you didn't bring arguements in there as well, thanks.

Can we please end this?? I think we both see each others points but someone just wants the last word. Lets end on a good note with no hard feelings, shall we? Whats your name on varanus, by the way?

are you kidding me?this went on for 5 pages.Varanio, you seem just overagro and a bit belittling.loconorc,i think we had words once but ended it on a good note,Varanio, dang man you realy know your stuff but pissed or not man, that anger can be as crappy to see on here as bad advice.I think this should have at least gone to pm.:lock:

Yes it should have, good point... Sorry about that everyone!!!! ^_^'

Kinda makes both of us look stupid doesnt it?

But varanio, assuming this is over and no hard feelings persist.... I contacted Frank again. He doesnt recognize your screen name, but he said if he really knew you you'd tell him your name. He seems to think a lot better of me than you do (or did), and I can even quote him in a PM if you want me to.

I assume were buddies now, yes? :) *extends hand*

Whoa...

If It was my 125 I would probably put beardies in it, get some really cool morphs with crazy colors that really stand out. Or, Make a huge dart frog vivarium, that'd look pretty cool if done right.

Post pics when you get when your getting, I bet it'll be cool.

And on a sidenote, Blackheads are some awesome snakes, with them being imported more I predict prices will surely fall as a strong captive breeding project is started aswell, hope to own some of them someday, beautys they are!

Dude, blackheads cant be imported from Australia. All exports are banned. You can import them from Europe and other countries I guess though, but I assume thats not what you meant. They remain so expensive because not many people are willing to keep large snakes, and they arent the easiest snakes in the world. If someone, just one person, could start up a viable breeding colony and kickstart them into the mainstream we'd see more of them. But that might not be a good thing. They are really big, and a massive responsiblity... But they would be cheaper. And if it becomes cheaper, it will eventually become a a garbage animal, much like the route Wild-caught ball pythons and normal phase bearded dragons are going. Id' rather them stay expensive, as would I with lots of other animals.

But heck yeah, beauties they are!
