Firemouths are also thorichthys but there are around 10 described species of thorichthys.

ok i see the list of them, they look nice, I've never see any besides firemouths being sold at a tropical fish store. would have to order right.?

Maculipinnis, are probably the next most commonly seen.the others turn up occasionally but yes you may need to order some of the others.

sorry to bump this guys, but i ended up ordering 5 rainbow cichlids! please any suggestions for tankmates. Are Livebearers the only choice?

Rainbow cichlids are really nice... then you can have some nice gravel and rocks for them as a decor. They love to hide .... so you can add some pots .
They are mildly aggressive and you can add them in a planted tank as well along with some driftwood .
How about some mollies or even some colorful guppies too as a live bearer option with them

Multispinosa is found mainly in shallow planted areas near the shore/banks of waters in Honduras.
If you wanted biotope correct tank mates the livebearer brachyraphis rhabdophora can be found living alongside rainbow cichlids in the Rio Tempisque.
Sandy substrate and plants with water worn rocks would complete the biotope.
