What would you put with a fire eel in a 135 gallon tank?

I like the sevrum idea. I would do a sev, a chocolate and a school of larger tetras/barbs like filamentosis barbs, silver dollars, rosey barbs. Dang. That sounds good. Hang on while I go setup another tank. lol

thanks for input :) ....and sorry 'Loves severums' I wasn't trying to be rude...its just that every time I ask questions about fire eels every jumps up and says 'big big big'
It fine ;)

Just depends on what you like. Personally, if I was setting up a fire eel tank right now, I would keep it with clown loaches (maybe 5 or 6), a couple hoplos, and some angels. (I've been getting more into the less-monster fish lately).

Edit: and sevs would make a nice addition, as well.

a few tank mates on the smaller side, like a pictus cat, maybe a common pleco once it gets bigger. 135? maybe a mbu puffer, nice size, as long as its kinda deep

Thanks for the input everyone, they are all great suggestions. I've never heard of some of the fish suggested, a great learning opportunity for me as i google them lol.... I think I've narrowed it down to: ropefish, senegal bichirs, denison barbs, angel fish, and red tailed black shark (my boyfriend loves them). also still considering but will probably decide against an oscar, jewel cichlids, kribensis, and pictus catfish.
Now I just have to decide which ones and how many. >_< so many of the fish I like are bottom dwellers, but i like balanced tanks with bottom, and mid/top dwellers arghh.

A mbu puffer would definitely not be an option. They require a tank the size of a small walk-in closet as adults, and they're usually extremely aggressive.

If there's ever an issue with balancing out the bottom-top dweller ratio, you could always just add a school of silver dollars.

they are nippy...

I think I've decided! 1 fire eel, 1 senegal bichir, 1-2 ropefish, 6 denison barbs (if I have a proper school of them I don't think they will be too nippy), and I going to try a red tailed black shark and see if it gets along with the barbs. I'm still undicided if i want to get a pleco or not, if i do it will be one of the smaller kinds (under a foot). I am going to do plenty of water changes. I've got the tank up and cycling now, and my eel is on hold at the lfs (I'll have to wait untill they get the other fish in stock), I can't wait ^_^
