what would you rather have

I do not recommend the Chrysler 300 due to the engine issues, even though it looks awesome.
I would recommend the Mitsubishi EVO or the BMW though. The VW isn't quite sporty enough to look sporty if you know what I mean.

I miss my S2000:cry:

With a $25,000 budget and the only stipulation being a mandatory four doors, I'd consider a VW GTI, Subaru WRX, Mitsubishi Evolution, BMW 3 series, or Chrystler 300.

Coming from an S2000 to a "real world" vehicle, I found myself looking at the cars mentioned above. In the end, however, I ended going the truck route and picked up a 2003 Nissan Frontier Supercharged. Biggest mistake I've made to date. Terrible gas mileage and virtually no power. Needless to say, she's going this summer and I'll have a new car in the stable.

i need 4 seats not doors, i just looked at the 2.7v6 hyundai coupe but its too slow and lacks power at 162bhp, the celica is 190bhp and the rx8 is either 192 or 231 and id go for the 231.
any rx8 owners out there with info.

i did the golf gti thing already and the evos or sti's are too boxy for me.
as for bmws i dont really like them and my G/F would not go for an m3.

My Jeep Cherokee (Yes, AGAIN LOL) has 190 hp, and I can tell you that the power is felt quite nicely - so the Celica sounds pretty good, too. I know the older RX's have steering issues and wheels falling off. Don't know about the new ones.

.

I have a Magnum which sits on the same platform and they are very few issues with the exception of the 2.7. The 3.5 and 5.7 are both very well built engines. I have personally been in a truck that had the same 5.7 and handled 21psi of boost on stock internals............. A poorly built engine could not handle a compression ratio that high.
And with the 3.5 28mpg in a large car (with 250hp) is not too shabby. They're very reliable as well. The ONLY issues I've heard of is a few of them had a leaky freeze plug after about 150k miles.

Also, you can't really compare the I6 power to the high revving 4cylinder.......there is a big torque curve difference.

/But I don't want to start anything

My GF just got an IS350 and I'll admit, its a very nice car. Power is respectable and fit and finish is amazing. I would definetly look into that. Might have to stretch your price range a bit though.

i'd say join the G35 club man, great cars, and a good amount of stock hp. if not, than if i were you i'd be gunning for some lowerend skyline's< R32's, you lucky brit's. but i'm a big older project car guy, you may want something newer.

maybe a mercury cougar? :headbang2
