What's a good canister with no bypass?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could probably get a better deal on either filter by shopping on amazon, pet solutions or live aquaria. Petco/petsmart are way too expensive - I buy all my equipment online. Based on your SN, I assume you are into viejas, what types do you have? I'm growing out a bunch right now myself.

With the Marineland I can only speak for the 530, It is a massive filter. The trays are very big....you gave to be very careful to put it togethor properly with these gaskets between the trays to avoid bypass. It does need to be blled of air in the head every once in a while by slighly tipping the canister in each direction as air gets trapped up in the head over time. It moves water even with media, I get rid of the Bio Balls it comes with and get Biomax or matrix. The input output pieces suck the hose in fine but the rest leaves allot to be desired. You save money by getting the Sun Sun or Aquatop as it's the same filter with slight changes. Marineland service is just awsome. I have two of these

Yes the chains sell them, now if they have it in stock? Cheaper if you go to a online retailer with a good rep. The one thing I do have to give them, is the ratings are at least in the ballpark for maximum tanks supported. Not sure of your tank size/fish type but if it' say 75 or larger I'd spend the extra for the 530. It comes with everything you need but that includes Bioballs which I threw out and carbon which I don't use. Bought all Matrix in its place. Again the tech support is the best I have dealt with.

Well unfortunately my petco only has fluval 06 series and the API filters, and 350 magnum I decided to get the 306 since it seems that they fixed the bypass problem from videos I saw. Ill just get the c-360 online later
