Bichirs as they even have a section here of their own here in MFK and most monster fish forums. African Butterfly fish just hides in the arowana section. Lol! However (this is just my imagination), if african butterfly fish can grow as big as other bonytouges, I think they might be even sought after than some arowanas.
African Butterfly by far. They are a very different, very interesting fish. Bichirs are boring until feed time, at which point they death roll. Then they go back to laying on the bottom or hiding.
Additionally, you never see African BFs around. They aren't rare per say, but def. uncommon.
The bichir thing seems to be a big fad around here. Everybody has them...even the smallest LFS in the city here stocks them.
Man, that's a hard one! I love ABF's and will definitely get one if I ever have the right tank size, but I voted for bichirs b/c of their awesome personalities.
bichirs r boring slugs with a cool dorsal fin...
thats it,
and butterflies r not much better,
instead of layin on the ground like a bichir they lay at the top....
but i did have an awesome abf,
he actually liked to swim around under the water alot,
even at the bottom,
so this argument u to were having is pointless,
i can go to 1 fish place and find 4 diferent bichirs,
then go to a dif shop and find abks,
it all depends on there incomin shipment and supply and demand !!!!!
but both fish are boring in there own aspects , but also intriging in there own individual rights!!!!
and i prefer butterfly fish....
reasons because when i find an ugly spider on my cieling i drop him in there annnnnnnnnn POP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
