Cubans are perfectly legal to own and import, it is simply the matter of obtaining the licenses and permits. But no, no smuggling involved, although the fishes previous owner and I did discuss the Cuban gar in some detail. A very cool and friendly guy... even cooler that he was wearing an MFK shirt...

It might be another week or two. I'm waiting on the stand to be finished and then I just have to haul it to the basement, fill it and get the sump situated.

In the meantime this is just another gar waiting in the 150g...

That size is a bit off on the newcomer... I think about 18" is more accurate.
