Emu are very cool. very tasty. Cool large green eggs (also tasty). They are also very nasty and dangerous to be around compared to ostrich. Beware the talons....i have never spoken to an emu farmer without serious scars!!!

they can be dangerous but from talking to people and doing some research, ostrich seems to be the most dangerous and aggressive of the large birds.

Emus are actually in petting zoos...can't remember ever seeing an ostrich in a petting zoo haha...

let's hope through lots of human interaction these will be good pets...;)

i used to work closely with an Ostrich farm in Tompkins County NY called Feathered Meadows. I used to spend lots of time at the farm. The females are fairly docile. The larger Black males are extremely unpredictable and dangerous. Thats why ostrich farms only keep a few breeding males....just like cattle breeders. You never see a herd of bulls running around! (outside a few streets in Spain) Awesome birds.

Here is an ostrich egg next to a chicken egg. The Ostrich egg is equivalant to 22 chicken eggs. When it got cold the ostrich hens would continue to lay eggs for a while and my buddy would give them to me to serve for breakfest at the Country Inn where I was chef. The egg is the same size as my hadrosaur dino egg!
