what's in the QT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That looks bad, looks like ammonia burn, i might be wrong. Just hang in there.
it's a possibility. I've never seen anything like this before, but I have no idea what's going on or happening to these fish! That's why I've been so hesitant to pick up the Teug and set up the 55.

I agree that looks bad. I've never seen that but out water parameters are so different. Interesting that the ornate had burn looking wounds too. Hmm.

A tank shouldn't be 0/0/0. Cycled would have nitrates. Non cycled would have ammonia or nitrites. Is this an API kit with drops, not strips? Also, you might shake the nitrate bottle for longer than the kit suggests... Shake the #2 bottle for 2 minutes. I've read that before so that's what I do.

What if you post a problem solving thread in the main forum with all parameters? Somethings not right and you should figure it out before getting anyone new.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. :(

true. Thank you so much for the support. That's a great idea about posting in the main forum. I am using the API liquid kit with the test tubes and the drops. Have not tried shaking the bottles. Will do.

RIP baby del.

Sorry to hear about your del, try some sen first to see if it will survive in the qt and the main tank.
Hope you get back at the horse again.

Oh no! I'm so sorry!

This forum has so much experience, I'm really hoping someone can help you figure out what's going on.

Please don't be hard on yourself and try not to be too discouraged. I'm sure you are right now.
Xoxo

(And yes, for nitrates in particular there needs to be bottle and tube shaking, like I said the bottle itself even more than the instructions say per one knowledgeable person I trust.)

Don't be discouraged. I believe it's just a case of bad luck a second time around. Don't think it was something in your control. Sometimes fish losses are a part of the hobby.

My recommendation is to try something cheap and small first. Perhaps some small guppies or danio for a few weeks. If they appear fine. Then consider another poly. It'll just eat them up, lol..
. But chin up for sure. Too bad none of us are near to assist. 3rd time is a poly charm for sure if guppies survive. :-)

Sorry for the loss. I'm confused why ur water is like that. The water treatment is keep minimally off. Old pipes can attribute to this. I remember an old post that duanes replied on and it was something similar. It had to do with old pipes.

Will see if I can find it. Keep ur head up. Cont to seed the tank and retest and then retest. Hope to see with some polys soon.

Shake both nitrate bottles but especially number 2 like it owes you money slam the bottom on your palm. Shake it for 60 seconds. Then shake the test bottle for 60 seconds. I dont think this is a nitrate issue though.

Man this sucks. Test tap water too. Post pics of the test results.
+1 on the giant danios. Very very hardy fish if they also die then something is definitely wrong that we are all missing
