Yea it's not cycled yet. But keep the water changes going and keep checking the numbers. It'll take weeks to start to get a good colony of BB.

Recheck the temp. But a temp of 80 is ok. Should be more active.

Probably cont the prazi pro. Wait it out and see if it eats later.
okay. I'll try to check the temp with something else or I'll try to find another thermometer.

What amount do you suggest as far as water changes for a tank that isn't cycled? It's currently in a 10 gal. If I do changes 1x a week or should I do every other week?

Would just check daily. Mak nature ur ammonia and nitrate are low as possible till become eventually 0 and ur nitrates are slightly up. Would do 50% daily or 2 days. Cause ur numbers will go up it's a matter of how fast.

+1 never can do roo many wc's

Some thermometers need to be calibrated - I'd definitely check the temperature and get a cheapie thermometer to keep in the tank anyway.

You should have nitrates in a cycled tank.

My rope fish wouldn't really eat bloodworms initially but they chowed on the silversides. You might try cut up silversides since they're whole fish and stinkier if you can't do the earthworms. Some fish will go on a little food strike with new stress but it shouldn't go on for all that long esp. in a CB fish IME. Not moving even when touched is a bit strange... tomorrow will be a week that it's not eaten?
I agree. It is very odd, especially with the me prodding him and him not moving at all. It's like I can push him around with the net and he doesn't respond. It's been a rough fish year for me. Although, on a positive note, I just got a nice fire shrimp who is happy and healthy!

Yep. Tomorrow marks an entire week of no food. Tried the blood worms, he didn't touch them. I lowered the temp in the tank. Even though the thermometer said 75, I'm not convinced. Might take him back to the LFS. We will see if things improve.

can I just put in a bag of carbon in the water? Only have sponge filter in there right now.

thank you for all your help! It's been a crazy year, but I'm learning.

Just go to petsmart and get an aquarium thermometer for cheap.

Did you seed the tank with established media from your other tank?

Is your 55 running or no?
not yet. I've been slacking. :pWas supposed to test it and set it up last week, but i ended up studying all weekend for midterms and started a new job. Goal is to have it set up by Friday. Thankfully, I did get a water test kit and a canister filter.

Since its a 10 gal and qt dont even stress the safestart. Just save that for the 55
