Since a lot of people have bought the XP3 because of the great price. What do you all have in your canisters?

foam pads on bottom, ceramic rings on middle and top with another filter floss on top.

i have 8 XP series... all use Ehiem Ehfisubstrat Pro + foam pads

That's what I did with mine. Is it okay to fill the entire basket with seachem matrix? As far as flow through the tank.... I guess it should be fine, but I took some out just in case.

I want to buy some of the tiered floss inserts by rena.

No problems; have almost too much flow!

On 55 gallon tanks (have two, each with XP3's-one with JD's, other with Angels and other assorted fish). Plants (Vals, asst. stem plants) swaying in the current. Sand bottom is getting "dunes" from the current bouncing off the front wall of the tank.
