whats possible with cichlids?

Well I think I've settled on a blue demsey and a red texas. Now I have to hunt them down. If the mix has been done I'd like to see it.

Also wondering what the minimum tank size is I should put them in. My piranha are in a 55 and need an upgrade, so that will be my biggest open tank at the moment. If they will need more I'll have to wait a while.

Will it matter which one is male and which is female? And is it better to get them small and grow them out together, or should I be looking for adults?
