What's that, lurking in the background?

Here are a few pictures of the boys out prowling around the tank tonight. I had the room light on but the tank lights off. They're sort of bipolar -- some days they're attacking each other, some days they're attacking tankmates, and some days they are mellow and just cruise around. Definitely one of the most frustrating cichlids I've ever owned. You can see them flaring at the Atabapo sev pair and the psittacus in these pictures.

Excuse the algae and pleco poop... water change day is still a few days away. And yes, the flash washes them out a bit, but the pictures are too blurry without it.

Absolutely gorgeous Lents! Like I've told you several times before, I hope that you can find a way to keep the Lents with some tankmates without all of the fighting. I believe these pikes are worth the headaches and effort. Until I get a larger tank I have to stick with the smaller pikes. I'd like to have Lents like these one day though or maybe Crenicichla Rosemariae! Best of luck to you, Ryan.

Looking great Ryan.

Going back and looking at the earlier pictures from this thread, it appears their colors have improved somewhat. They're showing much more red now than when I first got them.

Also notice that they're still inseparable -- I wonder if there'd be less aggression in the tank with only one male lent and not a pair that could tag-team other fish? I'm not familiar enough with pike aggression to know.
