Whats the BEST filter for your aquarium

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am now a huge advocate of sump/wet dry filters. Do some research and make your own and you will have the hobby by the horns.

For a good easy filter the aquaclears are great. They have fantastic flow and easy to fix. I also like my Fluval. I had a ehemi classic I hate that filter it's hard to clean after a year I found the flow weak even after a
good cleaning. I just a lot more hard time with that filter then my others.

Sump.

I would say two ac 70s, for some reason I like having a filter on each side of the tank, plus if one breaks or stops working you have a back up. there are a number of good filters out there, aquaclears get good reviews and are cheaper than an fx5 but the fx5 does have more capacity for filtration and a greater flow, wet drys are great for biological filtration but I feel like its not always needed to have so much but it never hurts, right. All depends on your preference, I experimented with a wet dry, it was noisy and I had a few newb problems but I liked its flexibility.

the best filter is the one u made, they call it wet/dry or sump pump.
i made mine and worth every penny and will out filter and outflow any cannister on the market out there for less than 100 bucks!!

on my 75 i hace 2 aqua clear 70s hooked to an undergravel filter, and a fluval 405 canister- it works great and it is dead quiet.

we've got the fx5. easy set up . stupid quiet. added clear vinyl tubing instead of black.

I have sumps canisters, hob (Emperor and AC) internal filters sponges and ugf. Not in the same tank lol. They all work great if properly maintained. Its more about personal preference.
