My buddy and I are going to make a few set ups and want opinions on the best types of filtration set ups you can do for a 100, 150, 200 and 300 gallon.

As far as best, if you aren't doing a planted tank, a wet/dry refuge, would be best. If you have a planted tank planned, a canister is better. Both can be very good filters, just depend on preference.

I Like W/D the best. Easy to build and lots of bio media, room for heaters and anything else you don't want cluttering up your tank.

when you guys speak of W/D you mean sumps, right?

as a far as how much filtration that depends on what is going into so we really need to know what your plan for inhabitants is...

Well, one tank the 300 is for african chiclids and the other tank 200 is for a black arowana. The arowana tank will not have plants, not sure about the other one yet...thanks so much for the replies so far, keep them comming. Really serious about making a prestine environment.:D

What is a "Eheim" filter? I heard these are great and my buddy thinks this might be good...I'm not knowledge-able with large set-up's yet but wanna get my science to the T.
