Whats the craziest risk you've taken in fishkeeping? Heres mine...lol

leaving my 75 gallon in the care of a non fish keeper for a week during christmas break. total of 10 dead fish, my angel pair was the worst of the loss. he didn't notice the evaporation, and the overflow eventually stopped, so no circulation, and no even heat distribution, so almost every fish had fin rot, ich, body fungus, and whatever else. The whole time he was saying everything's fine.... I guess he didn't notice. He won't watch the fish again.
 
im on the 2nd floor with a 240 and a 110 but not my 480 that would be insane lol thank GOD for bottom floors with concrete slabs lol

While trying to upgrade my sump I removed the middle brace between the doors of my stand. It was the only way to remove the sump without breaking down the tank. It left a big hole with one horizontal 1/2" pine board holding up a 90g Reef with about 180lbs of LR. I did however red neck brace it with 2X4s. Sometimes it just seems like a good idea. It went over without a hitch. But the funny thing is I did that thinking nothing of it but when I originally set up the tank I went under the house and shored up the floor under it with jacks. The house was built in 1913.

red neck brace? when is that ever a risk?
