im in darlington mate about 1 hr from leeds. i payed about £10 for mine but there normally about £25 for a 4 to 5" one. they have some at my lfs at 3" for £14.95, but i saw some at the same size in sunderland last week for £7.50 each.

my lps has little .5-1 " FF
 
at first i didnt like them either but u cant really tell how great they are by pics or at the lfs u have to own 1. I bought a 4 inch jardini and even though he killed off all this tankmates 1 love him. If ur into the live fish thing there great hunters aswell
 
i had started with two silver arrowanas and one killed the other i've heard its not the best to keep two of them together
