Whats The Difference Between Hikari Gold And Staple?

From the retail prices one can only assume that some of Hikari's formulas must be a lot higher quality, and cost a lot more to make, than others. That or their marketing dept has created that illusion.

Bio-Gold - $12.99
Food Sticks - $19.29
Algae Wafers - $12.99
Seaweed Extreme Wafers - $22.99
The last one really made me chuckle, as though seaweed meal is some kind of uber expensive raw ingredient. lol
mopani - have you checked the retail prices on Cobalt foods? That should be quite the wake up call for anyone that is considering that food & that feeds larger fish in larger quantities. 8lb's cost $187.99 on Big Al's website, and the 3rd ingredient listed by dry weight in the formulas that I looked at is freakin soybean meal! WTF? And for that they want $500.00 if one buys it in a 30 lb bulk box.
That's $200 more than 30 lb's of a premium food that doesn't contain any soybean meal, or corn starch.
Dr Foster & Smith have the 8lb pails on sale for $125.89 (probably because they are not moving) but even at those prices their food is still a LOT more than some of the other premium brands out there.
