How about killifish? Anyone have any experience with them?
Cause I am looking at this

It looks like a good deal, seeings how much these go for, and it GUARENTEE's I will have eggs, then to put them in blah blah... and why I like this is because I dont think you need anything that comes outside that package. My only concern is whether they got along with my one gouramis.

I dont think they are that hard. That kit doesnt look too bad, doesnt cost too much either, its worth a try. A gourami is cool with these fish, but most fish will eat frys, so thats the one thing you have to watch with. Personally, If I was gonna breed I would only have those fish alone. With any other fish, you risk babies being eaten.

Convicts are the easiest egg layer to breed. You should leave them in with there eggs though because they will protect them. Just put a couple of giant danios in as dithers so they spend more time protecting the eggs and less time eating them.

you can get a 20 long for about 25 bucks at petsmart, that would be big enough for a pair of cons

Mollies are livebearers. The title of this thread rules out livebearers.

Brichardi's cichlids (Neolamprologus brichardi) are also very easy to breed. They are a little more expensive than cons, but I had a pair in a tank for probably 4 days before they spawned and they kept going at it over and over.

I also discovered recently that Australian rainbows are very easy to breed (possibly why they are about 1/10 the price of other rainbows). I had no intention of breeding them, just got them as cheap/larger dithers for my bichir tank and had fry in about a week. They are now growing out in a 29. Once they're about 3/4", I'll put them back in the main tank. Hopefully a few will survive as dithers, but they'll at least be healthy, quarantined feeders

Yes convicts are easy to breed, but have you considered what to do with the dozens of fry that you'll end up with? They'll breed in a 10 just fine (not ideal, but it'll do), but you can't grow out all the fry in there. LFS aren't going to take them, and it'll be tough just giving them away. Only reason to breed convicts is if you're going to feed them to other fish.

As for livebearers, nothing easier to breed than h. formosa. Some of the hardiest fish out there. Don't even need a heater, or even a filter if you're good about water changes. You can keep a whole colony in a 10 and if there are enough plants in there, a lot of babies will survive.
