What's the hardest fish to catch in an aquarium?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sheesh it was just some humor buddy-lighten up some.I would say on a serious note-pbass are fast as hell and hard to NET.

I have a tank full of cichlids and the hardest one for me to net is the bumblebee he is ridiculous fast!

Got it. There was no emoticon to show sarcasm, so I assumed that you thought the question was in the fishing section...sorry.

i hate netting out my Ottocinclus
fast as heck, smart too (they wedge themselves between the heater and the glass) and once theyre in the net the backward-facing spines of the nose get all snagged in the mesh...

Man, that pisses me off when they wedge themself in like that.

Don't they know they're still going to get caught? Just jump in the net for crying out loud!

banjo catfish in my 55 that hides under my swords

I've done clown loaches, they are rough to net. The trick is to wait for the tank light to go off and put some food down for them, then hit them with a flashlight and scoop them up.

I once spent almost a month trying to catch one, single, male wild X helleri (swordtail) in a 75 gallon planted. The trouble with him was he seemed to realize that I was after him, and even though all of the other swords would be busy eating and doing other stuff, he would never stray far enough from cover for me to nab him, even though I was spending hours waiting patiently by the glass. I even had him in the net a couple of times and he managed to swim upward faster than I could pull the net out of the water and got out. I finally did get him with the aforementioned flashlight trick.
