its funny how over time the trend towards larger and larger tanks is increasing.
when I started fish keeping in 1989, my LFS used to sell only 3 180g tanks per year.
thats was it. and its a big store (Big Al's big box store)
a 90 back then was huge.
now, the same store sells 220's like they are going out of style.
one thing I notice is that tanks up to 125g are fairly common.
150 and up seem to be much rarer.
I believe this is for two reasons:
1. there is a big leap in price. a 150 is a lot more expensive than a 125 because the glass thickness goes up for example.
2. because of this glass thickness increase, the empty tank weight goes way up. an Aqueon 150g for example, weighs 100 pounds more than their 125. which is huge increase when its the same footprint tank..
so they become a lot more difficult to move around..
