Strainer on my penguin 350 fell off...cory cat sucked inside. My penguin 350s are usually noisy after pulling in gunk, or floating sand after a w/c, so I take out the impeller and put it back in quickly, which is what loosened my strainer. I usually don't look at the impeller but it was unusually noisy today so I took the whole thing out and looked underneath it and found a dead albino bronze cory :(

I had a 300 watt heater stick on and wipe out half of my tank. Temp went over a 100. Ya I was happy.

This past spring I lost a Male JD that I had bought in 2000 (had him 10 years) at 1" long. Some of my sons friends thought it would be funny to put some goldfish in with him. He ate them. A couple of weeks later his side blew out until he could not swim. I bought every med I could find to treat him. 5 weeks later he died. I didn't have the heart to put him down. No one and I mean no one touches my tanks now, only me!

I had an albino channel catfish that got its side kinda cut by the pleco and then the bullhead started to rip into him till it had eaten a area 6 inches long, 1/2inch wide, and all the way to his spine :(, he was 12" at the time..

When I tried to Euthanize my sick Blood Parrot who was getting worse. I held the BP live and the turtle bit its head but the BP escaped and swam away from the turtle in a very cold pond surprised that the temp difference didnt kill it instantly so I grabbed the BP again and got the turtle to bit the BP and its beak started to dig in the BPs flesh but it squirmed and got away so I took out the BP and smashed its brain out to end its suffering and gave the corpse to my turtle. I felt really bad for all the pain I gave it :(

I've had so many deaths over the years thousand and thousand of dollars its hard to say which one was the most traumatic. After 40 years in this hobby I've been there done that.. I killed my share of fish! I've had whole tank wipe outs do to my own mistakes. A few that stick out is one time in my Koi pond water had leaked behind the rubber liner and folded the liner into the pond suffocating 98% of about 30 really big expensive koi that were about 6 years old. That was a really sad day for me. Another time I had this really huge Sexfaciatus he was 15". I had him a long long time and really liked this fish. One day I wanted to move him to another bigger tank and when he was in the net he flopped out landing beak first into the floor!. Well when I got him into the water he was bleeding from his eyes mouth and had bad shakes then just died. I was so devastated!!! I was so pissed and angry with myself for letting that happen.

Skunk loaches gouging the eyes and decapitating the heads of my yoyo loaches.:(

Two big gars playing tug of war with one small characin (red-tailed barracuda). You do the math.

You euthanized a fish by handing it to a Turtle? :WTF: That's really, really inefficient. I prefer to take the fish that I need to put down, put it in a container, slowly up the temp to the high 80's, then drop it into a container of ice water (in the 30's) which knocks it unconscious, then I decapitate the fish. I hate doing it, it ruins my day and is admittedly quite messy, but it's soooo much better for the fish.

That... sucks. Remind me to not mix Skunk Loaches with my Yoyos.
